Free Rooster Egg Cozy Pattern ROOSTER EGG-COZY Materials: J. Be P. COATS BIG BALL BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. A.I05, Size 30: I ball each of White. COATS Be CLARK'S O.N.T. SIX STRAND EMBROIDERY FLOSS, Art. C.lI: I skein of No. lO-A Canary Yellow. Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10. 2 buttons for eyes. GAUGE: 12 dc = 1 inch; 6 dc rows 1 inch. SIDE SECTION (Make 2) . . . Starting at lower edge with White, ch 46. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, de in each ch across (44 dc counting turning ch-3 as 1 dc.Ch 3, turn. ~nd row: Skip first dc, de in each dc, de in top of ch·3. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 3 inches. Shape Top: 1st row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc to within last dc before the ch-3; holding back on hook last loop of each dc, dc in next de and in top of ch-3, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (1 dc decreased at back edge). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first st, dc in each dc across, dc in ch-3. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Repeat 1st row. 4th row: Skip first st, dc in each dc to within 3 dc before the ch·3; holding back on hook last loop of each dc, dc in the next 3 dc and in the ch-3, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (duster made). Ch 1, turn. 11th-17th rows: Repeat 3rd row. 18th row: Sc in first 4 sc; pull up a loop in each of the next 2 sc, thread over and draw through all 3 loops on hook (dec made); sc in next sc, dec 1 sc, sc in next 4 sc. Ch I, turn. 19th and 20th rows: Repeat 3rd row. 21st row: Dec 1 sc on each side of center se. Ch I, turn. 22nd row: Repeat 3rd row. Repeat 21st and 22nd rows until 3 sc remain. Break off and fasten. Beak (Make 2) . . . Using 3 strands of Canary .yellow Embroidery Floss, work same as first 10 rows of Wattle. BTeak off and fasten. FINISHING. . . Leaving bottom edge open and inserting comb at top of head, sew side sections together. Press. Sew beak sections together and sew in place with wattle on each side. Sew on buttoneyes. Edging: Attach Spanish Red to seam at lower edge.
