Below is a list of quilting tools to help you furnish your quilting room. Acrylic Ruler- Use to make straight cuts with a rotary cutter Cutting Mat- Buy a self healing mat it will last longer. The mat protects your surface while cutting your quilt pieces. Chalk Darning or Hopper Foot- used for your sewing machine for free motion-stitching. Embroidery Machine Embroidery Machine Software · Embroidery Fonts · Embroidery Designs Fabric Fat Quarters Fabric Marker Fusible Web- Use fusible web to making appliqué quilts instead of basting the pieces on with thread. Fusible web has an iron adhesive backside. Hoop – hoops are portable and are used to stabilize quilts that are thicker and do not fit into quilt frames. Iron Iron Board Laptop Computer- to download designs for your embroidery machine Marking Pencils · Dressmakers pencil Measuring Tape Needles · Hand sewing needles- for hand stitches & appliqué · Embroidery Machine needles · Sewing Machine needles · Quilting machine needles · Serger needles Ott Light Plastic Template Sheets – Plastic sheets are usually 81/2 by 11” and you cut them into shapes to make permanent patterns – templates for quilting projects. Quilt Table- A table that is level with your machine to support the quilt while sewing. Quilt Frame- Frames are very helpful when hand-stitching quilts. The frame will help to stretch the quilt which will help to insure even tension. Quilting Machine Quilting Pins Quilt Patterns Quilt Books Quilt Magazines Rotary Cutter – Round blade cuts quickly and efficiently. Rotary cutters can cut several (some up to 8) layers of fabric at a time. Safety Pins- Hold several layers of fabric during the quilting process. Sewing Machine Serger Scissors – Four pairs 1 pair of scissors for cutting fabric-NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use your good fabric scissors to cut fabric…they will dull immediately! 1 pair of pinking schears 1 pair of scissors for paper only 1 small pair of scissors for to make little cuts and trim Thimble- Protects your finger, especially helpful when pushing pins through several thick layers of fabric and batting.
