| The Quilt Asylum 1705 W. University Suite 125 McKinney, Texas 75069 972-562-2686 www.thequiltasylum.com Open Monday 10 am to 7pm Tue-Sat 10am to 5pm My first visit to the McKinney Texas Quilt Asylum was prompted by the article in Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler Features Shop Article. The Mckinney quilt shop was about a 25 minute drive and totally worth every second!!! I had a hard time limiting my purchased down to just one basket ful. I wanted it ALL. The quilt asylum is a store after my own heart they have more brights than I knew what to do with. My only mistake was coming on Thursday and not on Tuesday when they have "Fat Tuesday Sale". On Fat Tuesday they the fat quarters are $1.75 each and they have over 10,000 fat quarters. In addition to all the great fat quarters they had lots of kits, quilt fat quarter bundles and really cool quilt patterns. I purchased on of their pillowcase kits. I have made lot of them and don't really need a pattern, but I just could not resist the combination of comic book and silly fabrics in the kit. My son will just LOVE it. And a fat quarter bundle of the Michael Retro washroom fabrics for my 20's and 30's club quilt. Wish me luck on that one- the pattern looks pretty tough. I also learned a really cool trick from one of the extremely helpful ladies working at the quilt store. I had a pattern that I am making with a monthly club and its in colors that I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use. I was trying to pick my colors based on what the photo in the pattern looked like. When the woman suggested that I photo copy the pattern so its just black and white and the current colors would not distract me from choosing my own. It worked perfectly! Thanks so much to her!!!! |
