Members of the Garland Quilt Guild can bring sewing and quilted related items marked with their membership number and price on masking tape.  A portion of the sale will be donated to the Garland Quilt Guild.  This is our second annual sale.  It was a big success last year and we are all looking forward to more fun and shopping goodies.  One woman's trash is another womans treasure!  We will also be hosting a recipe tasting during the guilds garage sale.  Members are bringing their favorite treats along with the recipe for other members who may want to purchase the recipe from the guild.  A great way to try before you "buy" the recipe.

Garland Quilt Guild Friendship Groups
In addition to the monthly guild meeting, we also have several small friendship groups.  As a member of the Garland Quilt Guild, you can attend/join any of the groups.  Friendship groups are a great way to connect with other guild members in a small group setting.

-Hancock Hunnies-
Meet on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30pm  to 8:30pm at the Hancock Fabrics located on HWY 78 in Garland. You can bring sewing machines or hand work, we usually have a new "group" project/program each month, and/or work on our own projects. During our September group we learned how to make fabric postcards.

Garland Quilt Guild Purpose:
The purpose of the Garland Quilt Guild (GQG) is to bring together people who share a common love of quilting and enable them to participate in community service projects which benefit those in need, while preserving a rich heritage and exploring new expressions of the art of quilting through education.  The Garland Quilt Guild seeks to be a respected organization, known for its activities and programs and designed to enrich the lives of others in community.

Garland Quilt Guild History:
The Garland Quilt Guild was formed in 2005.  With Barbara Daniel as our leader, the first meeting was held at Suzy's Quilt Shop in downtown Garland.  The plan was that the meeting would be held there until the group out grew the space.  There were 78 in attendance at that first meetig (with ladies sitting on the stairs and peaking through the window trying to hear what was happning)- needles to say, a new facility had to be found immediately.  Fortunately, First Presbyterian Church in downtown Garland was willing to accommodate our growing group.  The Garland Quitl Guild started with 108 charter members and the first year ended with an impresive 136 members.  Friendliness, helpfulness, and sharing are the strong points of this group.
