Free Knitted Skirt Pattern KNITTED SKIRT Directions are given for Size 10. Changes for Sizes 12, 14 and 16 are in parentheses. COATS & CLARK'S RED HEART "WINTUK" SPORT YARN, 2 Ply (2 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins): 8 (8, 10, 10) ounces of No. 327 Camel. COATS & CLARK'S SKIRT or NECK ZIPPER: 8-inch length. Knitting Needles, 1 pair No.4. Milwards Steel Crochet Hoo~ No.1. 2 hooks and eyes. 1 snap fastner. GAUGE: 6 sts = 1 inch; 9 rows = 1 inch. Be sure to check your gauge before starting garment. Use any size needles which will obtain the stitch gauge above. NOTE: Skirt is made in 4 panels. Repeat from'" across. 2nd row: K 2, '" P 3, k 2. Repeat from *' across. 3rd row: P 2, *' with yarn in back of work sll as if to p, k 2, pass slipped st over last 2 sts made-baby cable made;p 2. Repeat from'" across-50 (54, 58, 62) sts. 4th row: K 2, '" P 1, yo, P 1, k 2. Repeat from '" across-62 (67, 72, 77) sts. Repeat these 4 rows (first through 4th rows) for pattern. Work in pattern until total length is 3 (3, 3, 21'2) inches, ending with a wrong-side row. NOTE: While decreasing at side edgewhen less than 3 sts remain for baby cable on each edge, always knit these sts on right side and purl these sts on wrong side. Keeping continuity of pattern, dec one st at both ends of next row and every 14th row thereafter 8 times in all, then every 8th row 5 (6, 7, 8) times-36 (39, 42, 45) sts remain. If necessary, work even in pattern over remaining sts until total length is 19 (20, 201'2, 21) inches, ending with a wrongside row. Note: One inch is allowed for stretching. Bind off loosely. Waistband: Starting at one end, cast on 19 sts. 1st row (right side): Purl. 2nd row: K 9, with yarn in front silas if to p-fold line; k 9. Repeat these 2 rows alternately until belt, when slightly stretched, measures one inch longer than desired waist measurement. Bind off. Fold belt in half at fold line with right side out. Overcast edges together. Pocket Flap (Make 2): Starting at one short edge, cast on 17 sts. 1st row (right side): Purl. 2nd row: K 8, with yarn in front sll as if to p-fold line; k 8. Repeat these 2 rows alternately until piece measures 6 inches. Bind off. Finish same as Waistband. Block to measurements. Leaving an 8-inch opening for zipper on left back seam, sew panels together. With right side facing and crochet hook, sc evenly along edges of zipper opening. Sew in zipper. With right side facing, starting at a seam, sc evenly along entire lower edge. Join with sl st to first sc. Break off and fasten. Allowing one inch of waistband to extend free at left edge of opening for overlap, sew seamed edge. of waistband to top edge of skirt. Fasten overlap of waistband in place with 2 hooks and eyes and a snap fastener. Having folded edge of pocket flap toward side edge of skirt, sew other long edge of pocket flap to a front seam, 31'2 inches below waistband. Tack short edges in place. Sew other pocket flap to other front seam to correspond.
