| Fiber Fusion Technique Basic instructions to make fiber fusion fabrics. Supplies: 1 yard freezer paper, plastic bowl, water, plant fibers or silk fibers, water-reducible fabric medium. Instructions: Lay freezer paper onto table waxy side up. Pull apart silk fibers and lay them onto the freezer paper. Mix the fabric medium and water in bowl. Pour onto the silk fibers and press into the fibers to make sure they are all covered. Leave for approx 24 hours depending on the humidity where you live. Once dry, peel the "fabric" from the freezer paper. One side will be "silk fused fabric" like and the side that was on the wax paper will be "plasticy". You can work with either side depending on the look you want for your finished piece. I store my unused fused fabrics on the freezer paper. To use the fiber fusion in your art pieces, you can either sew them in or use glue to attach them to your project. Coming soon! Projects made with fiber fusion fabrics. |
