| Charity Sewing and Crafts Projects We are going to list as many charitable organizations that need sewing and crafts donations that we can find. Some of the charities will need people to sew quilts, pillows, wheelchair bags, toys, dolls etc and some of the charities really need donations. Our goal is to create a comprehensive directory of sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting charitable projects and organizations. We hope that this will be a valuable resource for you to use to donate your time or extra sewing supplies. If you have or know of a charitable organization that needs seamstresses or sewing supplies, please email us at allisonray@gmail.com and we will look at your website and include your information on this page. If you would like to share the stories about your groups sewing efforts for a charity and/or if you would like to include photos of your group sewing. We would love to post those stories and phots for others to read and share. |
| Would you like to sew items to be donated to charities but are not sure what to sew? Below is a list of Free Patterns for Sewers and Community Service Projects. You can always contact the charity directly too. Many times they offer free patterns on their websites for the items that they need donated. iCare The American Sewing Guild and Wild Ginger have teamed up to make pajamas designed to meed the special needs of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Northern California. Icare "Intensive Care for the Spirit" provides free sewing patterns for gowns, pajamas, and for other medial care accessories. You can download the iCare program click here. All you have to do is pick the item you want to make and then print off the pattern. Stitch-A-Wish Established in October 2005, volunteers sew pillow cases for children hospitalized in Cook Children's in Fort Worth, Texas. Their goal is that each patients receive child-sized pillow and colorful pillowcase to use while in the hospital and to take home with them. The finished size of pillowcase is: 15" X 24" . Give Kids the World, Kissimmee, Florida Needs volunteer sewers to make wish pillow cases. GKTW is a non-profit resort for children with life-threatering illnesses whos one wish is to visit Central Florida's attractions. On site is a "wish machine" that lights up and blows bubbles then a pillow pops out. The village needs an average of 240-300 pillow cases per week. Click here for more information.
