We are all so busy now that ordering fabric online is an easy way to complete a quilting, sewing or craft project.  There are also many more fabric choices available online than we could have at our local Joann's or Handcock Fabrics

Tips for ordering fabric online

1.  Keep a detailed list of what fabrics you need and how many yards of fabric you need for each of your quilting, sewing or craft projects.  You would not want to order too much or too little.

2.  In additon to the fabric yardage, you will need to know how wide or the width of the fabric you need.  You may find a great fabric online that is 45" wide but if you are making roman shades or curtains you may need 60" wide.

3.  Take advantage of online coupons and free shipping offers.  If you sign up for Joann.com and/or Handcockfabric.com mailing list they will email you 40% to 50% off coupons monthly that you can use when you order online.

4.  Check the blend of the fabric before you add it to your cart.  If you are making a baby quilt with all cotton and chenille fabrics you may not want to purchase a fabric online that is a wool or polyester blend.

5.  Add the cost of the fabric, the cost of shipping and divide it by the number of yards you are purchasing to see if per yard the fabric is in your price range.

6. How is the fabric shipped, USPS, UPS or Fedex?

7.  How long does it take the online fabric store to ship the fabric?

8.  What is the fabric stores return policy for damages, not received or disliked fabric?

9.  What methods of payment does the online fabric store accept and are you comfortable using one of those methods.

10.  Do they carry that fabric regularly or is it a "special" or "seasonal" fabric?  You may want to purchase a little extra for mistakes if you will not be able to purchase more of that fabric later.  Besides...She who dies with the most fabric wins....
